A Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, on his part filed a fundamental human rights
enforcement suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja on behalf of Jones Abiri, seeking for among other prayers an order directing the DSS to pay the journalist N200m in damages for the illegal violation of his fundamental rights.

Peter Ekenga, an investigative journalist, who committed himself to investigating the issues of the arrest despite hazards dominant in such investigations. He painstakingly dug dip into the matter not been biased but upholding democracy and the fight for human rights
